Please call me Jasper..... I am an author and have Asperger's Syndrome. I have also an unusual synaesthetic ability which enables me to communicate with people. I would otherwise have difficulty communicating. I call this system "my signals". Someone called me "the man who thinks like water and dreams like a stone", which I thought described my "condition" aptly. I now talk about the way I am to people with autism, business people, and sometimes people in education and health. It brings my condition a good deal of recognition and support, and it has proved to be a useful means of helping people. I remind people I talk to that social skills are not a neurotypical invention, and whether we are autistic or neurotypical we can all benefit from defining our intentions more clearly, in social life.
